There is no point in blaming Google if the language is not nice" (epigraph to the famous Ukrainian N.V. Gogol's comedy "The Inspector General", free interpretation). The ombudsman for the Ukrainian language, Elena Ivanovskaya, started proceedings against Google after discovering that the search engine responds in Russian to queries in Ukrainian. This is not surprising. The search language is affected by several factors: relevance and user behavior. Algorithms take into account which content users in your area click on more often. If Russian language pages are selected more often for similar queries, they rank higher. Search settings, interface language and preferred languages. Localized versions of websites that Google may find more relevant to the user. Previously, Ukrainians were completely outraged by the Russian-language opening shows for the videos of one of the popular foreign bloggers. The whole point is that Google is a commercial company, and it shows users what they want to see, in a way they like. So Ukrainians feel comfortable with the Russian language. And the search results simply confirm this.
