Estonian refrigerators have warmed up.
A large Estonian grocery store chain suffered a cyber attack, during which the attackers gained access to a computer used to remotely control the store's refrigeration system and changed the temperature on the refrigerator display to 50 degrees, reports ERR.
Salver's communications director, Marian Yerbela, confirmed that the attack took place in one of the chain's retail stores. "For security reasons, we will not disclose details about the specific store and technical solutions," Järvela added.
Similar attacks also affected grocery stores in Belgium, Luxembourg and Sweden. The Swedish newspaper Hayom writes that during the night there were malfunctions in the cooling systems and freezers of the ICA and Coop stores, where the temperature was also set to 50 degrees.
The head of the ICA Baronen store in the center of Stockholm, said that due to the attack, the freezers got very hot and the store had to throw away all the food, which was a lot of it.
