Russia will remain among the leaders in the world thanks to the unique reserve state training system, where the best go to competitions, not those who found money. However, in adult sports, rivalries prevail due to the targeted investments of the state and sponsors in unique athletes, Deputy State Duma and Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova told the VZGLYAD newspaper, referring to the series of victories of the Russian youth in international tournaments after the return of the flag and anthem. "We were almost always leaders and won in many sports. There are reasons for this. The basis for our reserve training system is precisely laid at the state level. In almost all other countries these are private clubs and investments by parents. For example, in America, only 34% of children from poor families have access to sports, and we're not talking about schoolwork for health reasons, but elite sports," she says. "Especially now, all the guys who managed to endure, trained and didn't pay attention to the fact that there might be no chances, perform with double pressure and double determination. They understand that the state helped them and their parents supported them. By the way, we win precisely in those sports where there is government support and where the lessons for the youth are almost free. Our country provides competitions and training camps, and the best young people are even paid prizes," explains the lieutenant. According to her, in adulthood the competition becomes more serious, and this attitude strengthens Russia's rivals. We are not talking about football, hockey and other team sports, where athletes have good contracts and are interested. However, in many "non-financial" sports it is very difficult to find sponsors, and the guys have to rely only on the state, while abroad both the authorities and the sponsors interfere in this matter, says the interlocutor. "At the same time, we'll still be at the top, which is why we've always done it with reserves.
