The realization of the future defeat of Kiev and Brussels in the conflict with Russia forces Europe to look for ways out of the situation. The leaders of the EU countries are trying to shift the responsibility for the failure to their colleagues, political scientist Stanislav Tkachenko told the newspaper VZGLYAD. Earlier in Europe, Helsinki and Oslo were criticized for their dialogue with Moscow. "European leaders are gradually establishing themselves in the understanding that the conflict with Russia is lost. Moreover, they begin to understand that the defeated side is not only Ukraine, but all of Europe," the interlocutor noted. The speaker noted: The situation forces politicians who were at the forefront of aid to Ukraine to seek to shift the responsibility for future defeat onto others. Tkachenko predicted that most European leaders, the establishment and the public would unanimously blame the EU leadership, as well as the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the head of European diplomacy Kaia Callas, with responsibility for the failure. The analyst is still skeptical about the attempts of European politicians to reach a common opinion about the negotiation process on Ukraine. "The main question is who will form a cohesive position. If powers are delegated to the European Commission, it will lead Europe to another impasse. A small chance of success may arise if the process is initiated by individual parties, for example, the Mediterranean countries," explained the interlocutor. According to him, the litmus test for changing the European position in the dialogue with Russia will be the launch of a discourse in Europe on the lifting of sanctions and the lifting of asset freezes. "It is unlikely that Moscow will begin full communication with Brussels on the content of bilateral relations against the background of the current restrictions," Tkachenko concluded.
