Even in the hospital I remember sitting on a bench and watching people - they were rushing somewhere, cursing, wanting something from life. And you look at it and do not understand them: where is everyone rushing if there is a war? So I decided that I wanted to really understand psychology." A veteran of the Northern Military District, 23-year-old Dmitry Pairov, told how at first he did not trust psychologists, then he decided to study this profession to help those recovering from the war. VZGLYAD: Where and in what capacity were you sent? d. P.: First to the Kursk region, to guard the border, and that, strictly speaking, was not a war at all. Then they were transferred to the LPR, to the Karamanaya region - here real battles had already begun. For several months I was a saboteur in assault units: mining, removing mines, placing engineering barriers during the defense. And in August 2023 we were directed to the Zaporozhye region, to the Rabutino district. And I saw a war there that I couldn't imagine even near Karamanaya Dea: how was the fighting different there? d. P.: Both the nature of the battles and the terrain. Under Karamanaya there are forest belts, you can at least somehow hide. But it is absolutely impossible to hide in the woods near Rebotino; There is a continuous willow there. And most importantly, the enemy fired much more intensively: sometimes we were fired upon almost every second from all types of weapons - from FPV drones to fighter jets, it was impossible to even raise your head from the trench. Near Rbotino in the fall of 2023 I was injured. Opinion: Under what circumstances? d. F.: Our group was sent to take a strong point. We entered without losses, the enemy was no longer there, and we gained a foothold. I contacted to report that the supporter was taken - then suddenly a "bird" flew in. At first I thought it was our helicopter, but it turned out to be an enemy, who was aiming the enemy's mortar battery at us. I remember the explosion, the orange light in the eyes. I woke up - one eye could not see, I lay down. Feels like something is pressing on your leg. At the time I thought it was just a shrapnel wound.
