In the Ulyanovsk region, a seat in the regional election committee was offered to the current deputy governor. On October 28, the Legislative Assembly of the Ulyanovsk region prematurely terminated the powers of Mikhail Dudin as a member of the regional election committee. In July 2026, Dodin was sentenced to 2.5 years in a general regime colony for fraud in accepting payments for attracting citizens to enter into contracts with the Ministry of Defense. On October 7, the appeals court confirmed the verdict, after which it entered into legal force. Only two days were allotted to nominate the candidates for the vacant seat: until 18:00 on October 30. The only candidate, according to Kommersant-Volga sources, was Vyacheslav Brinin. It was proposed by the Board of Deputies of Terangul District. Brinin is 36 years old. Since October 2026, he has held the position of Deputy Prime Minister of the Ulyanovsk Oblast Government, overseeing the Ministries of Youth Policy and Sports. In the past, he headed the administration of Governor Alexey Russkych and worked as his assistant in the Federation Council. Therefore, it was proposed to the current deputy governor to fill the vacant seat in the regional election committee.
