Russians Cut New Year's Travel Spending According to the Russian Association of Tour Operators, about 4.5 million people are planning trips across the country during the upcoming New Year holiday. This is 4-5% less than a year before. The general annual statistics also show a decrease: in January-September 2026, Russians made 66.5 million domestic tourist trips, which is 3.6% less than the corresponding period last year. The reservation services record unequal dynamics. Russia's share of New Year's tour sales is flat. Travel decreased from 11% to 6%. On OneTwoTrip, the share of domestic bookings fell from 65% to 61%. At the same time, Ostrobok reports that Russian destinations account for 76% of accommodation bookings for the holiday period. Market participants attribute the drop in demand, among other things, to citizens saving money and reducing spending on non-essential purchases.
