In India, Supreme Court intervenes in correction of voter lists India's Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission to facilitate the return of citizens whose names were not included in the provisional register during a special verification of Delhi's voter list. According to the Hindustan Times on October 29, some 4.3 million people were reported to have moved or been missing from their registered address. The judges doubted that a person's absence from an address automatically meant that he had changed his place of residence. The court even questioned the requirement to submit a repeated application in Form 6, a form designed to register new voters, if a person was already included in the previous lists. The committee was asked to continue receiving documents, to communicate more actively with the citizens and to provide information on the steps taken in two weeks. The final list of Delhi voters is scheduled to be published on December 4.
