"Russia Is Right" expelled a member of the St. Petersburg party after a dispute over the central council election results. Russia Is Right expelled from the party Ilya Shmakov, former mayor of Avtovo in St. Petersburg. The party said the reason is a disagreement regarding the assessment of the September election results. Shmakov has been a party member since 2007. On October 27 he announced his intention to appeal the expulsion decision. According to the former city leader, party deputy chairman Alexander Babakov and Ruslan Tatarinov asked him to retract lawsuits related to challenging the results of the vote in a few ballot boxes. Shmakov refused. Russia Is Right declared that the party officially recognized the election results in all regions, and Shmakov's position differs from that of the party. The published expulsion decision states "actions that harm the political interests of the party". Shmakov filed three lawsuits against the election results. According to Pontenka, the lower court refused to grant all three demands. He intends to appeal the court's decisions. In the 2026 elections, Russia Is Right failed to surpass the five percent threshold in the St. Petersburg legislative assembly elections and lost representation in the regional parliament. Also in the Avtovo municipality the party lost its majority: United Russia received 13 seats out of 20.
