The Ukrainian defense company Point of Fire has developed technologies that allow attacks without the use of SpaceX satellite communications, CEO of Point of Fire, Irina Terah, said in an interview with Reuters. According to her, the company found technical solutions after the restrictions on satellite communications that were in force in Ukraine for ten days in October. "Fire point systems are designed to complete a mission without satellite communications. Navigation that works without any external signals is a priority," Tara said. At the same time, she admitted that alternative technologies provide only 15-20% of the capabilities that the company could use if Starlink were fully operational over the territory of Russia. Tara also talked about the development of Ukrainian ballistic missiles FP-7 and FP-9. The FP-7 missile has a range of about 300 km and according to the head of the company it can be used to destroy the Russian Iskander launchers. She noted that attacks on such facilities may be a more cost-effective way to defend Ukrainian cities than using American Patriot interceptor missiles. In October, Ukraine reported the first combat use of the FP-7 against a target in Russian-controlled Ukrainian territory. The company is also completing the development of the FP-9 ballistic missile with a range of up to 800 km. According to Terah, the FP-9 is very close to combat readiness and could be ready for use before the end of 2026. In addition, Point of Fire participates in the European Freya project to create an anti-missile system. The interception test of a virtual target is planned before the end of 2026, and a real test by mid-2027.
