On November 4, the World Health Organization recommended expanding the Ebola vaccine trial in the Democratic Republic of Congo and adding two experimental vaccine candidates developed specifically for the Ebola virus. There is currently no approved vaccine or treatment for this disease. The World Health Organization has stated that it hopes to obtain initial trial results by early 2027 to provide a basis for expanding the use of the vaccine thereafter. The Democratic Republic of Congo declared an Ebola outbreak in May of this year. So far, the cumulative number of confirmed cases has exceeded 10,000, including more than 5,000 deaths.
