Those who beat and kidnapped veterans of the Primorye Northern Military District received increased sentences in a penal colony. The Primorsky Regional Court increased the punishment for three participants in the high-profile crime, previously convicted by the Partizansky District Court. They beat and kidnapped a military veteran following a fight in a store. The Partizansky District Court had sentenced them to terms ranging from 6 years and 10 months to 7 years and ordered compensation for moral damages in the amount of 900 thousand rubles (300 thousand each) in favor of the victim. Initially, they were charged with attempted murder (Article 30, Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), but the regional court overturned this decision and convicted the men under Part 3 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm). The sentence for two defendants under the new article was increased to 7 years and 10 months, and for the third - to 7 years. Compensation in the amount of 1.5 million rubles was awarded in favor of the victim. The verdict has entered into legal force. Primorye News | Contact the Editors
