The US State Department has approved the possible sale of 500 PAC-3 MSE anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine for Patriot air defense systems. The total value of the deal is estimated at $2.1 billion. In addition to the missiles, the package includes spare parts, maintenance and logistical support. The funding will be fully provided by Ukraine's international partners. The funds will be provided by Canada, Germany and Norway through the JUMPSTART program, as well as from national funds financed by the EU's Ukraine Support Loan Support Program. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that American budgetary funds are not provided for this transaction. The main contractor will be the American company Lockheed Martin. According to the State Department, the delivery of the missiles will allow Ukraine to strengthen its air and missile defense, as well as maintain the operation of existing Patriot systems. We are talking about the approval of a possible sale, and not about the actual transfer of missiles. The delivery dates are not specified in the message.
