Pashinyan announced the establishment of close diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence that Yerevan and Ankara will establish diplomatic relations in the near future.

In a speech on November 6 at the World Armenian Summit in Yerevan, the Prime Minister emphasized that normalization of relations should be based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity, sovereignty and state borders.

"Armenia and Turkey have not yet established diplomatic relations, but I am convinced that this will happen in the near future," Pashinyan said.

The Armenia-Turkey land border has remained closed since 1993. Despite the increased negotiations on the normalization of relations, the parties have not yet restored full diplomatic ties.

Earlier, Yerevan also expressed interest in opening a railway connection with Turkey against the background of the implementation of the TRIPP project and the lifting of the transportation communication blockade in the South Caucasus.
