Yerevan ruled out returning to the CSTO amid talk of expulsion Armenia does not intend to resume participation in the work of the CSTO. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this on October 28, stressing that statements by other members of the organization will not affect Yerevan's position. "We will not change our position and we will not see our return to the CSTO," said the minister. The statement came against the backdrop of calls by the former CSTO Secretary General, Nicolai Bordiosa, to expel the republic from the organization. In his opinion, the situation in which Armenia does not participate in the work and does not pay dues, but retains the membership and the right to influence decisions, requires a renewed examination. The current Secretary General Talatbek Mesdikov previously allowed the issue of Armenia's membership to be discussed at the November 11 summit in Moscow. However, in order for this to happen, a parallel proposal must be made by one of the participating countries - there is no talk of a decision being made or the issue being put on the agenda. Armenia froze participation in the CSTO in February 2024, explaining it by the lack of a proper response, according to Yerevan, to the events on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. At the same time, the republic remains officially a member of the organization. Vestnik Caucasus.
