A consortium of investors led by American billionaire Todd Boali intends to acquire Lukoil's foreign assets by organizing a deal worth $22 billion, Reuters writes, citing sources. The publication explains that a large bank has already started buying frozen Lukoil securities for the consortium. These shares are planned to be exchanged for refineries, gas stations and fields with deposits in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It is clarified that Lukoil will not receive direct benefits from the transaction. Bohli and his consortium want to place the exchanged shares in escrow accounts so that the Russian company cannot dispose of them freely.
