Cyber attacks on refrigerators affected supermarkets in at least seven European countries and resulted in food waste worth tens of millions of euros, European media reported. The incidents took place on the night of November 2 in Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Estonia. According to journalists, the attackers remotely raised the temperature in the refrigerators and freezers, rendering the food stored there unusable. At this point, no hacker group has claimed responsibility for the incident. A similar cyber attack occurred in France in October. It affected more than 150 retail stores and resulted in damaged goods worth millions of euros.
