The government committee has approved a bill stipulating the transfer of pension savings of Russians to a long-term savings plan starting April 1, 2027, the Russian Ministry of Finance reported. What the changes imply: It will be possible to use government co-financing in the amount of up to 36 thousand rubles per year for ten years. Citizens will be able to submit tax deductions and independently choose the timing and methods of receiving payments. The payments are given in special life situations. Invested funds are inherited. The safety of personal deposited funds and cumulative income in the amount of up to 2.8 million rubles is guaranteed. The changes will not affect the insurance allowance, which is allocated and paid by the Social Fund of Russia. The procedure for registering pension points and work experience will also remain the same, the Ministry of Finance noted. The long-term savings plan went into effect in 2024. It assumes that the citizens pay deposits voluntarily, and the operator of the program (a non-state pension fund) invests them, guaranteeing a return on the investment.
