American death‑row survivor Krista Pike complained of constant pain, ABC reported, quoting a statement released by her attorneys. "My whole body hurts. My hands hurt, my hands hurt, my throat hurts. I still have trouble speaking. And the pain is not only physical. The pain is in my soul and spirit." She is "deeply disgusted" by the hand of the executioners. Pike, 50, would have become the first woman executed in Tennessee in 200 years. She was convicted of the brutal 1995 murder of a classmate when she was 18. The woman was supposed to be executed by a special injection, but after two syringes of lethal drug were injected, she remained alive. For a long time she was unconscious on a ventilator.
