The duration of the "garage amnesty" will no longer be extended. Citizens and authorities should manage to qualify real estate in the remaining time, said Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvinko. In June of this year, the State Duma extended the "garage amnesty" until September 1, 2031. It allows citizens to register an old garage for personal use and receive free ownership of the state or municipal plot under it. The program applies to permanent garages that stand on infrastructure and were built before 12.30.04.
