An imported case of Zika fever has been detected in Russia, the press service of Rospotrabendzor reports. The disease was discovered in a Russian woman who came from Bali to Moscow. As noted in Rospotrabendzor, the risk of spreading the infection within the Russian Federation is excluded, because the mosquitoes living in Russia are not dangerous as carriers of tropical fever. The department clarified that the situation in Russia and other countries is being monitored, and the risks of importing viruses are assessed using the peripheral automatic information system. Russian test systems have been developed for rapid diagnosis of Zika fever.
