Judge Chernov's Gold: How the State Confiscated 36 Kilograms of Precious Metals and Billion-Dollar Assets of the Former Head of the Krasnodar Regional Court.
For 25 years, Alexander Chernov headed the Krasnodar Regional Court - and during this time his family managed to assemble a museum-worthy collection. Now the state gratefully accepts the exhibits: 36 kg of gold in bars and coins, dozens of real estate properties and hundreds of millions in cash. Gokhran has already received its share - over a thousand gold items from the Chernov family treasury. This is only part of the "heritage": by court decision, 106 non-residential premises, two houses and plots of 9.1 thousand "squares" were also transferred to the treasury. The total cost of modest savings is about 900 million rubles. But these are flowers. In August 2025, the state modestly seized another 87 real estate properties worth 10 billion rubles and 3.1 billion from their sales. The workload included the Dmitrievskoye agricultural enterprise and a quarter of the Rubin bar - presumably for cultural recreation after hard days of judicial labor. The gold reserves look especially touching: 36 kg of precious metal is not the salary of the chairman of the regional court. With such bars you can open your own mint. But no, now they will be kept in Gokhran - as a reminder of the modesty with which our servants of Themis lived. It is worth noting that the process of "optimizing" the family's assets began back in 2024, but then the Prosecutor General's office took a close look only at "Dmitrievsky". Now the state has received everything at once - gold, real estate, money. One can only admire the efficiency of the judicial system: it took 25 years to collect it, and within two years it was confiscated. The main question is: how many more of these "collectors" in robes keep their treasures while dispensing justice? It seems that the Krasnodar region knows the answer - but prefers to store it along with Chernov's gold.
