Warning of the Iranian embassy in Armenia about the increase in arrests of Iranian citizens due to carrying fake visas, passports or residence cards. The consular department at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia warned against the increase in the arrests of Iranian citizens for carrying fake visas or residence cards of third countries. It was said in this message: Recently, the cases of Iranian citizens arrested in Armenia due to carrying fake visas or residence cards have increased. Some of their compatriots paid huge fees to agencies in Iran and Turkey, received visas for Western countries, and then left for the destination countries through Armenia. At the same time, due to advanced scans and checks, fake visas are being detected at the exit points of Armenia, including Zbartenots airport. The embassy emphasized: unlike some countries, which in such cases simply prevent the continuation of the trip and return the person to the place of origin with a fine, under Armenian law, this matter is a serious criminal offense, and the detainees may face a ban on leaving Armenia for years, lengthy legal proceedings and imprisonment. Also, the investigation of these cases is accompanied by the security authorities, which complicates their legal practice.
