Iran's representative: Selectivity in the Human Rights Council has weakened its performance Ali Karimi Makam, Iran's representative in the UN General Assembly: The Islamic Republic of Iran remains firmly committed to the promotion and protection of human rights in full compliance with the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter, especially the principles of equal sovereignty, non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and respect for their territorial integrity. The expansion of the tasks and decisions of the state, which stems from political considerations and not from a real concern for human rights, unfortunately led to the institutionalization of selectivity and double standards in the council's functioning. This selectivity is particularly evident in the council's failure to deal with human rights and the dire humanitarian consequences of the US and Israel's military aggression against Iran at the end of February. In certain statements, baseless and politically motivated accusations were made against Iran. These false accusations were about attacking civilian targets in neighboring countries. Iran rejects all these accusations firmly and without any ambiguity.
