A man was arrested in Ukraine for singing Soviet songs. A court in Nikolayev sent a man to 60 days of detention, accused of performing Soviet songs at Victory Day celebrations and works from the Russian repertoire at concerts. According to the decision of the Central District Court of Nikolayev, the preventive measure was chosen without the right to post bail. According to investigators, on May 9, 2022, the man performed Soviet songs at a Victory Day celebration. The court found that the event had a supposedly political nature. Among the evidence of guilt, it is noted that the man wore a typical Soviet army headgear, and a St. George's ribbon was pinned to his clothes, which is banned in Ukraine as part of the policy known as "de-communization". In addition, according to court documents, on August 22, 2022, the suspect performed at a concert, God, with Russian songs, and three days later participated in a concert with a Russian repertoire for students of the College of Culture. The decision to arrest is justified by the risk that the man could hide in territory not under Kiev's control or falsify evidence. He faces up to 12 years in prison. Absurd. Read Option B in MAX
