Power is shared in Poland. What does it have to do with Kiev? On the night of October 31, the struggle of the Polish authorities led to a fight in the Constitutional Court. The government talks about restoring the rule of law, the president talks about a forceful seizure of a state body. What happened: On the evening of October 30, the police appeared on the grounds of the courthouse after Anna Korwin-Piotrovskaya's appeal about security threats. Then the court's website announced the suspension for a month of the chairman Bohdan Sonczakovski and his deputy. Corwin-Piotrovskaya stated that she now runs the institution. In the court's own account in X, what occurred was called an attempted coup. At night, protesters and politicians from the right-wing opposition gathered near the building. President Carol Noruki cut short his trip to Senegal and arrived at the tribunal. His section was accompanied by a fight: the parties accused each other of using force. In the morning, the president demanded the withdrawal of the forces sent by the government and announced an urgent consultation with the parliamentary parties. Why such a war for justice? The court examines the constitutionality of the laws and its decisions are final. Therefore, influencing this body provides leverage that a presidential veto alone does not. For example, the president cannot veto the budget; It can only be sent to the tribunal. The Tusk government simply does not publish the decisions of the current tribunal, and without publication they do not enter into force. Since April 2024, 85 decisions have been "buried" in this way. If the court goes to Tusk, it will begin to act against the president. But judges are appointed for nine years, and after the 2027 election this tribunal will intervene with the right, if they win. The current CM chose eight judges, but Nabruki did not swear in five of them. The court administration did not allow them to work. Korwin-Piotrovskaya is one of them. And it turned out that Poland actually had two courts. On the court's website, the head is listed as Korwin-Piotrovskaya.
