The Ministry of Health supported the idea of freezing germ cells for cancer patients at the expense of mandatory medical insurance. This is about preserving eggs and sperm before starting aggressive treatment that may affect reproductive function. At the same time, people dealing with cancer often do not have time to think: the decision to preserve germ cells must be made quickly, and the procedure must be paid for with their own money. The Ministry of Health stated that together with the Federal Fund for Mandatory Medical Insurance they are examining the possibility of implementing the initiative. This may require regulatory changes.
