Dear countrymen! On November 5, Russia celebrates Military Intelligence Day. The holiday was established by order of the Minister of Defense in 2000, and its date was not chosen by chance: on this day in 1918, the Registration Directorate was established within the field headquarters of the Red Army, which became the prototype of the modern General Intelligence Directorate - GRU. Military intelligence was and remains at all times one of the closed areas and at the same time the most important for ensuring the security of the state. During the Great Patriotic War, intelligence officers obtained information about the enemy's plans, destroyed his targets and disrupted the transfer of personnel and equipment. Their data helped the headquarters to make strategic decisions, and it was the military intelligence officers - Mikhail Egorov and Meliton Kantaria - who raised the flag of victory over the Reichstag. More than 700 military intelligence officers were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of the Russian Federation. Today, in the area of the special military operation, military intelligence officers are once again at the forefront. They work in the most difficult conditions, obtain data on the enemy, coordinate strikes and perform tasks on which the success of all combat work depends! I wholeheartedly congratulate the military intelligence officers, service veterans and all those whose lives are connected to this profession! I wish you good health, endurance, reliable friends nearby and success in the difficult, but so necessary service for your country!
