The greatest freedom is to stop needing something without which you could not imagine your life before. While man seeks happiness solely in the external world, he remains dependent on circumstances. He needs the approval of others, new experiences, recognition, acquisitions and constant proof that life is going well. But all pleasure fades with time, and then a new need arises, which you have to pursue. That way you can spend years endlessly filling the inner void with external things. True maturity begins when a person learns to be alone with himself and not feel that he is missing something. He stops clinging to people, circumstances and fleeting desires. Not because he no longer needs anything, but because his inner state no longer depends on it all. When support appears within, the outside world stops controlling your happiness.
