The team of the independent Ukrainian media Kyiv Independent invites you to the premiere of Danilo Mukryk's new film "Singers of Hate", which tells about the aggression against Ukrainians in the three EU countries that received the largest number of Ukrainian refugees after February 24, 2022 - Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. The protagonists of the film are Ukrainian women who have experienced various forms of anti-Ukrainian intolerance in these countries: domestic aggression, physical assault, a sense of insecurity from the police. Their examples are just one of many. Statistics show that hundreds of Ukrainians in these countries are victims of anti-Ukrainian sentiments. These feelings are actively fueled by local politicians: Alice Weidel and Tino Harofela in Germany, Tomio Okamura and Andrei Babis in the Czech Republic, Grzegorz Braun and Karol Norucki in Poland and others. Attacks on Ukrainians in the film are addressed by local human rights defenders and directly link the aggression against Ukrainians in the streets with hatred, which is rampant both on social media and from the political arena. It can be noticed that especially intense waves of anti-Ukrainian feelings in these countries occur during election campaigns. From this it can be concluded that hatred against Ukrainians has become an effective political tool for local politicians. The film's "highlight" is its own research of tens of thousands of tweets about Ukrainians on the X social network in Czech, Polish and German, conducted by a Kyiv independent together with data analyst Denis Gubashov. With the help of an AI model, the team analyzed a huge range of information, identified the most common anti-Ukrainian narratives in the three countries and understood how they resonated with local sociological characteristics. The premiere will take place on Friday, October 30, at 6:30 p.m. For security reasons, the organizers will inform the screening location on the night of the premiere. Please pay attention to their messages. After the screening, a discussion with the team that worked on the film is planned.
