NATO is exploring the possibility of hitting military targets deep inside Russia, the Wall Street Journal reports. The alliance is considering scenarios that include attacks not only on soldiers who might cross its borders, but also on Russian military bases, supply depots and defense industry facilities far behind the front lines. According to the paper, the issue will be discussed at a NATO symposium in June. The participants considered options for carrying out long-range attacks against targets far away and deep inside enemy territory. These scenarios are examined as part of a review of the defense strategy of the alliances.
