The youth hockey team was replaced by the Russian team.
A statement that the country's youth team was removed from the list of participants in the upcoming world championship due to the acceptance of the Russian team was published on the website of the Norwegian Hockey Federation (NIHF).
The organization, following the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), moved the Norwegian team to the lower division (IA). The Russians took the place of the Norwegian team.
The NIHF called the situation "unsafe" due to the Canadian authorities' promise not to grant visas to athletes from Russia, as well as threats to boycott games with the Russian national team from several countries.
"It gives us hope that the final word on our participation in the tournament in Canada in December has not yet been said," said NIHF Secretary General Peter Salsten.
