A verdict was given in one of the first cases of treason against a serviceman. Kirov military officer tried to recruit fellow RDK student Mediazone reports that the Central District Military Court sentenced former Kirov junior sergeant, 36-year-old Nikita Bogomolov, to 17 years in a security colony. The former army man was found guilty of treason, leaving his unit without permission, facilitating terrorist activity and participating in a terrorist organization. According to the prosecution, in July 2023 Bogomolov corresponded on VKontakte with a user whom the security forces consider to be an unidentified employee of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In January 2024, the army man left his unit in Novorossiysk - field position number 11180 - and returned to Kirov via Ulyanovsk. At the beginning of July, Bogomolov joined RDK and decided to start recruiting new members. In particular, for a month he talked with a former classmate at the command school named Vorobiev and talked about how to join the RDK. He also offered to send documents and photos of Vorobyov to the corps representatives and promised that there would be no criminal liability for this. Bogomolov also explained how to get to Ukraine through neighboring countries under the guise of a volunteer. FSB officers arrested Bogomolov on August 21, 2024, and he has been in pretrial detention since August 23. The court deprived Bogomolov of his military rank and second-class medal "for courage" - from 2022 to the beginning of 2024, he participated in the war in Ukraine.
