Dozhed TV channel's statement regarding the closure of Novaya Gazeta Novaya Gazeta has announced its closure. The title of this news item seems like an oxymoron: for 33 years, the newspaper's editors managed to continue working time after time - despite persecution and pressure from the authorities, murders of colleagues, attacks, searches and financial difficulties. "Novaya" managed the impossible: to continue working for almost five years under the conditions of military censorship in Russia. Now Novaya Gazeta was killed. They were killed by the wrong hands - in the comments of government officials it sounds like these were private decisions: stopping receiving donations, demanding to vacate the place, refusing printing services. All this should not mislead: today's murder of Novaya Gazeta was ordered and organized by people in the leadership of the Russian Federation to silence the last independent newspaper in Russia, and to deprive its readers of independent information, which for many in these terrible war years became a breath of fresh air. In this simple plan, the Russian authorities, as usual, forget the most important thing: behind the sign are dozens of Novaya journalists and hundreds of thousands of its readers, like-minded people and partners. The sign can be removed, but these thousands of people will remain. On this dark day for the Russian press and Russia, we want to express our support, solidarity and gratitude to our colleagues from Nova, as well as trust in a new meeting.
