The political scientist Kinev was transferred to a new cell with "standard plumbing equipment", his lawyer Mikhail Biryukov announced. "Alexander Kinev was transferred to a new cell with four cellmates and normal plumbing equipment. Alexander is very moved by the support that different people, sometimes strangers to him, express to him in letters, and thanks everyone," he noted. Before that, the state investigator was in a cell intended for 34 people, where he could not go to the bathroom because of a cast on his leg. Because of this, Kinev went on a hunger strike. At the end of September, Kinev was arrested on charges of trying to sell drugs illegally in large volumes and was sent to a pre-trial detention center for two months. The political scientist pleaded not guilty. Later, Ekaterina Shulman stated that Kinev was tortured with electric shocks, and demanded that he confess to treason. His leg was also broken.
