A toothpick pierced the patient's intestine. A resident of Domodedovo accidentally swallowed it while brushing his teeth, and three days later he arrived at the hospital with suspected appendicitis. The answer was found on the operating table: the appendix was fine, but a sharpened stick pierced the wall of the small intestine. The surgeons removed the toothpick and sutured the affected area, preventing the development of peritonitis. The man remembered the circumstances of the incident after the intervention. Now he is at home, under the care of doctors. But the end, according to surgeon Sergey Oskin, could have been completely different.
