Troy was able to not only imagine, but also "hear" a little. Archaeologists found a fragment of a bone flute about 2,800 years old. During more than 160 years of excavations, musical instruments have never been found here. The strangest thing is the age of the find. The flute dates to the 8th century BC, Homer's estimated lifetime. And in his Iliad the sounds of flutes and pipes are heard from the Trojan camp. Nice coincidence, but not proof. There are about four hundred years between the so-called war and the creation of the poem. Perhaps, in describing the distant past, the poet simply added music familiar to him.
