France has launched a legal investigation into a war crimes complaint related to an Israeli attack on a residential building in Lebanon. The French-Lebanese artist Ali Cheri, whose parents were killed in an attack in Beirut in 2024, filed a complaint as a civil plaintiff with the International Federation of Human Rights this year, explained Cheri's lawyer, Clemens Baktar. She added that the crimes against humanity unit of the Paris court appointed two judges to handle the case, calling the move "the first of its kind." Seven civilians, including Cheri's father and mother, ages 87 and 77, were killed in an explosion at their 12-story apartment building in downtown Beirut on Nov. 26, 2024, according to the complaint. Three floors were destroyed. The attack took place "a few hours before the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah went into effect," the complaint said, citing a detailed study of the incident by Amnesty International and Legal Architecture. Let's see if the wading pools manage to bring the scores to justice. Given that there are many scores in France itself, it is more likely that the plaintiff will die suddenly.
