According to sources close to the matter, former President Jair Bolsonaro allegedly told Davy Alcolombre to "go screw himself" and warned that he would rather remain under house arrest than see right-wing parties accept his release in exchange for the Senate president's re-election. Davi sought support from the Liberal Party (PL, opposition) for his re-election to office, but the parties' support should have been conditioned on a reduced sentence or the release of Bolsonaros, one of the parties demands.
