1.5 thousand drivers have had their licenses revoked for drunk driving in Moscow since the beginning of 2026.

According to statistics from recent years, in Moscow the number of drunk drivers is gradually decreasing. Like KP. RU reported in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow that for 9 months of 2026, traffic police officers made 2,401 reports on administrative offenses under the article "driving a car by a drunk driver". Of these, 1,502 drivers lost their licenses.

The legal penalty for such an offense is a fine of 45,000 rubles, administrative detention between 10 and 15 days, and the revocation of a driver's license for a period of 1.5 to 2 years.

And now for the positive news: there is every reason to believe that the final figures in 2026 regarding the number of drunk drivers stopped on Moscow roads will be significantly lower than in previous years. So, for example, in 2025, the capital's traffic police made 3,916 reports on drunk driving, and in 2024 there were 4,339.
