The Democrats in the United States are preparing a new aid package for Ukraine worth 15 billion dollars.
Democrats in the United States intend to use budgetary and parliamentary tools to prevent President Donald Trump from easing sanctions against Russia and obtaining increased aid to Ukraine. This is reported by the "Financial Times".
According to the publication, representatives of the Democratic Party plan to include provisions on military and energy support for Kyiv in the draft law on security policy, which should be adopted before the end of 2027.
They want to allocate about 15 billion dollars for these purposes. The newspaper clarifies that supporters of Kiev expect to implement the initiative during the "lame duck" period - before the new Congress takes office in January next year.
MPs will propose amendments to provide continued intelligence support to Ukraine. The publication states that they do not have the two-thirds majority required to override a presidential veto.
