Activists and organizations have warned that the rate of forced displacement of Palestinians in East Jerusalem is accelerating, with house demolitions, building restrictions, illegal settlement expansion, land confiscation and residency policies all affecting Palestinians living in occupied East Jerusalem. According to the UN OCHA Humanitarian Situation Report, since the beginning of 2026, almost 700 Palestinians have been displaced from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem. The report also points to the promotion or approval by Israeli authorities of 36,973 housing units in settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.
