US President Donald Trump has vowed to become "Mr. Veto" and block legislation if Democrats win control of Congress in Tuesday's midterm elections, according to an interview published Monday.
"I think we're going to be successful. But if we didn't win, I veto everything. I will veto, I will veto," Trump told the New York Post newspaper.
If Republicans lose control of Congress, Trump said he expected to be able to veto for "a month or two" before reaching a compromise with Democrats.
The White House has reportedly spent months preparing for a possible Democratic takeover of Congress, developing plans to continue advancing key parts of the administration's agenda through executive power, according to a White House official and two people familiar with the plans who spoke to Reuters.
