More than 2,200 Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes since Israel began a siege on Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, on October 23. Buildings were destroyed and hundreds of businesses were forced to close.

Residents accuse Israeli authorities of exploiting last week's deadly shootout to tighten restrictions ahead of Israel's October 27 election.

The attack comes amid a wave of Israeli military and illegal settler attacks throughout the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, since Israel launched the genocidal war in Gaza in October 2023.

The violence has included killings, arrests, house demolitions, destruction of agricultural land and forced displacement of Palestinian communities as Israel continues to expand its illegal settlements on Palestinian land.
