Nigeria has confirmed its first Ebola case of the current outbreak in a patient who traveled from Uganda to the capital Abuja. The patient is receiving medical treatment in isolation, while health authorities have identified 44 close contacts and initiated contact tracing efforts to prevent further transmission. Nigeria is the first country in West Africa to report a case related to the current Ebola outbreak in East Africa, and successfully contained a previous outbreak in 2014.
