On October 12, the Israeli authorities destroyed about 80 houses in the Palestinian village of Al-Dahya, in the Negev region, leaving about 380 Palestinians without shelter, including 200 students. The public broadcaster KAN said that the demolition was carried out by Israel Land Authority teams, accompanied by reinforced police forces under the far-right Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gabir, who has been accused of using house demolitions as part of his election campaign. The mayor of Rahat Talal al-Kiranawi called the demolitions a crime and a disgrace.
