Saudi Arabia is facing its deadliest string of infrastructure attacks in over a decade after a series of attacks by Houthi militias targeted King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh.
In the fourth attack in just five days, at least 14 people were killed and more than 300 were injured - including Saudi citizens, foreign workers and a pilot. The activity at the airport was stopped following the damage and security assessments.
The attacks also targeted Abha International Airport and Saudi Aramco facilities. Increased risks around major shipping crossings near the Bab al-Mandav strait are putting intense pressure on the global energy transition and driving up oil prices.
Several international airlines have suspended flights to Saudi Arabia. Foreign embassies - including those of the US, Canada, Germany and Spain - issued travel advisories warning citizens to avoid affected Saudi airports.
