The Los Angeles Times, one of the most widely read newspapers in the US, sparked an online backlash after publishing a paid advertisement by the Israeli government depicting a map omitting the state of Palestine.
The ad, titled "Paid Program," was funded by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and reviewed by the LA Times studio. The content was published under the name "Israel: Land of Creation" on September 16.
The page features a map showing a borderless Israel stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River, without the West Bank, Gaza, or other occupied Palestinian territories, which violates international law.
The LA Times has previously published ads promoting tourism in the Golan Heights, Syrian territory occupied by Israel, according to the Drop Site News website.
