Happy holiday - happy Sunday, brothers and sisters! Today we remember the Old Testament prophet Joel, who lived 800 years before Christ. He prophesied about the final judgment, saying that the disasters that befell Israel at that time were a figure of the last day. Joel predicted the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles of the New Testament and the beginning of a general judgment, which would be preceded by terrible phenomena in heaven and on earth, and in which only those who call upon Him will be saved. On this day we also remember the Holy Martyr Huar and seven Christian ascetics of the early 4th century. The martyr spent the whole night in conversation with seven Christian teachers who were sentenced to death. In the morning, when they were executed, Huar went with them. The pagan judge, seeing the firmness of Huar's special faith, ordered him to be beaten severely, during which the holy martyr died. Other Christian associates were beheaded along with him. Early knowledge of the coming of the Lord in the flesh and the outflow of the Holy Spirit and the coming judgment, prophesied by Joel: Save with your prayers those who honor you from all sorrow.
