The Armenian opposition links the search for Karaftian's family and Pashinyan's lack of votes to the "Aliyev Constitution". The Armenian ruling party Civil Contract lacks 6 votes to adopt and submit to a referendum a new constitution in favor of Azerbaijan and its president Ilham Aliyev, therefore the Armenian authorities are putting pressure on the parliament and the criminal opposition through the security forces. This is how the Armenian opposition explains the arrest of the leader of "Strong Armenia" Sambel Karaftian and his associates. On November 4, security forces searched 65 addresses, including the homes of Sambel Karaftyan, who is under house arrest, and his nephew, the head of the powerful Armenian parliamentary faction, Narak Karaftyan. After the search, the NSS officers took Sambal Carpathian from the house. Later, the Seldcom determined that as a result of the actions of Karaftyan and people associated with him, Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC suffered damage in the amount of 64.5 billion drams. Narek Karaftian called for searches of addresses related to his family's political pressure and said that the authorities were trying to implement the "Aliyev Constitution". According to the politician, the document proposed by the authorities could weaken Armenia and increase the country's dependence on the neighboring country. He connects what is happening with the intervention of external forces in the internal affairs of Armenia. Member of Parliament from the "Armenia" party Levon Kocharian also believes that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev wants to impose his constitution on Armenia, and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan pursues and arrests anyone who opposes this. Kocharian called the prosecutors, judges and security officials involved in the repression devices in the hands of Aliyev. The political blogger Mina Khachatryan has a similar point of view: "Pashinyan, frightened by Maliev, like a rat, deployed his security forces against "strong Armenia".
